Hawthorn Suites Golf Resort is going to have its debut right here in Conyers at the Georgia International Horse Park. Ground breaking began on June 29, 1998 just above the 7th green at the one-of-a-kind Cherokee Run golf course, and the grand opening is scheduled for early 1999.

Hawthorn Suites, together with the Atlanta-based U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc. has designed a new extended stay, upper-end hotel with an all-suites lodging concept. This design is especially targeted to business travelers attending meetings and conferences and looking to combine a golf and meeting retreat experience. The new hotel will offer several features, including a complimentary hot breakfast buffet seven days a week, a daily complimentary newspaper, an evening social hour Monday-Thursday, an on-site convenience store, guest laundry, and valet service. The hotel design is lodge-style, with three stories. There are 76 spacious studios as well as one- and two-bedroom suite accommodations. Each separate suite provides a balcony, fully equipped kitchen facilities, separate modem lines, voice mail, extended cable TV with movie channels, and separate work and dining areas. The facility also provides an outdoor heated swimming pool with Jacuzzi, an exercise facility and a business center. Each suite is also designed to take advantage of a scenic view of the golf course. Hawthorn plans to provide special golf and meetings packages. Hawthorn will surely provide a very pleasant and unique overnight stay for business travelers as well as tourists to the Conyers and Atlanta area.
